Todays’ cakes are from the wedding of Lauren & John.
I met with Lauren and her mom, Alice, at Wedding 101 a few months ago to discuss the cakes for Lauren’s wedding. Lauren wanted something simple and classic, so she asked for a four tiered cake with a quilted effect. She wanted real flowers, so the florist left a gorgeous cake topper and some lilies, roses, calla lilies and various other greenery for me to place around the cake. Lauren chose alternating tiers of red velvet cake and white chocolate raspberry cake, both with cream cheese filling.
For the groom’s cake groom, Lauren wanted to do something special. He’s a big Chicago Cubs fan, so I made a 10″ round coconut cake with chocolate buttercream filling and chocolate ganache icing, covered it in royal blue fondant and decorated it with a Cub’s logo on the sides. I made the custom gum paste topper to look like the Wrigley Field sign, with the message: “9 Years In The Making: Lauren and John.”
The wedding and reception were held at the Factory in Franklin. It was gorgeous!
Peace, love & cake!
