This cake was one that a friend of mine had seen on flickr and wanted for her daughter’s birthday this past June. It was a pool party and the theme was “under the sea:”
This was an 8″ round white almond sour cream cake with Swiss meringue buttercream, covered in light-blue fondant with custom, hand-cut sea-scapes, corals, stars, bubbles, crabbies, fishies and squiddies. The “bubbles” on the top are gumpaste attached to wrapped floral wire.
It was a fun cake to make! Happy birthday to sweet Elyza!
